XOCHIPILLI

Xochipilli, el Príncipe de las Flores, es el dios azteca de las flores, el maíz, el amor, los juegos, la belleza, el canto y la danza. (Xochi proviene del náhuatl Xochitl o 'flor', mientras que pilli significa príncipe o niño). Él es el marido de Mayahuel y el hermano gemelo de Xochiquetzal. También es denominado Macuilxochitl, lo que significa "cinco flores".

A mediados de 1800, un siglo 16 la estatua azteca de Xochipilli se desenterró en el lado del volcán Popocatapetl cerca Tlamanalco. La estatua es de una sola figura sentada en un templo-como base. Tanto la estatua y la base sobre la que se sienta en tallas están cubiertos de flores sagrado y psicoactivas incluidas las setas (Psilocybe aztecorum), tabaco (Nicotiana tabacum), Morning Glory (Turbina corymbosa), sinicuichi (Heimia salicifolia), posiblemente cacahuaxochitl (Quararibea funebris ), y una flor no identificada. La cifra en sí crosslegged se encuentra en la base, hasta la cabeza inclinada, los ojos abiertos, la mandíbula tensa, con la boca medio abierta. La estatua se encuentra actualmente alojada en el Museo Nacional de Antropología de Mexico.

Se ha presentado por Wasson, Schultes y Hofmann que Xochipilli representa una figura en medio de entheogenic éxtasis. La posición y expresión del cuerpo, en combinación con las representaciones muy claras de plantas alucinógenas que se sabe que se han utilizado en contextos sagrados por los aztecas apoyar esta interpretación

The Prince of Flowers

Xochipilli, The Prince of Flowers, is the Aztec god of flowers, maize, love, games, beauty, song and dance. (Xochi is from the Nahuatl xochitl or 'flower', while pilli means either Prince or child.) He is the husband of Mayahuel and the twin brother of Xochiquetzal. He is also referred to as Macuilxochitl, which means "five flowers".

In the mid-1800's, a 16th century Aztec statue of Xochipilli was unearthed on the side of the volcano Popocatapetl near Tlamanalco. The statue is of a single figure seated upon a temple-like base. Both the statue and the base upon which it sits are covered in carvings of sacred and psychoactive flowers including mushrooms (Psilocybe aztecorum), tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum), morning glory (Turbina corymbosa), sinicuichi (Heimia salicifolia), possibly cacahuaxochitl (Quararibea funebris), and one unidentified flower. The figure itself sits crosslegged on the base, head tilted up, eyes open, jaw tensed, with his mouth half open. The statue is currently housed in the Museo Nacional de Antropologia of Mexico.

It has been presented by Wasson, Schultes, and Hofmann that Xochipilli represents a figure in the throes of entheogenic ecstasy. The position and expression of the body, in combination with the very clear representations of hallucinogenic plants which are known to have been used in sacred contexts by the Aztec support this interpretation.

Mystica plays a combination of psychedelic and classic trance with elements of folk and rock.

All 3 band members come from the town Ashdod in the south of Israel.

In 1997 Paul Oakenfold arrived in Israel with the Perfecto Fluoro tour.

Paul played Mystica's track 'Ever Rest' twice that night at the Cinerama Club, and a few days later Oakenfold's Perfecto Records signed Mystica. In 1998 'Ever Rest' was released on a single by Perfecto with two remixes (by Brain BUY and Tour DE-Force). The single was a big success and entered the charts in Britain. Perfecto then released a second single 'African Horizon'. This single had two mixes by X-Cabs and another track 'Bliss' which also charted high.
